Welcome to Salford u3a

Welcome to Salford u3a! We are a thriving charitable organisation which provides opportunities for learning, staying active and having fun in later life.

Everything we do is led by volunteers – by the members, for the members. It’s all about coming together to make new friendships, share interests and learn for fun. Take your time exploring this website so you can see what’s on offer. I’m sure you’ll find something that matches your interests: if not, we are always open to new ideas. Whether you are new to the u3a, or an existing member, I know you’ll find a warm welcome at any of our interest groups and social events.

Our groups

We offer more than forty interest groups. Some involve outdoor activity (our Walking groups are especially popular), some are more cerebral (such as Local History and our Book Clubs), and others are quite definitely social (Luncheons, Theatre and Concerts).

Whatever your interests, you are sure to find a group to join where you can discuss, learn and socialise with a really friendly and welcoming group of people. We all share our skills and life experiences. Please visit our Groups page for a full list of activities, or click on one of the links to the right.

Our social events

Each month we hold a Social event with an invited guest speaker and plenty of chance to catch up with friends. And then there is always the option to join our regular Trips in the UK and abroad.

We publish a monthly newsletter to keep you up to date with the latest group news and events.

Become a member

We would be delighted if you were to join us and you can now take out an individual membership through to the end of 2024 at the reduced rate of just £12. For couples, joint membership is available at a discount. Please visit our membership page where you can complete an online application or download a form. Or if you would like more information, please contact us. There is no age limit.

Once you join Salford u3a you will automatically become a member of the national u3a organisation which offers additional benefits. Take a look at some of their latest videos “Do Something Brilliant Today” to find out more.
