Guten Tag!

We are a friendly group of people who have some (possibly only slight or much forgotten) knowledge of German. Did you learn German at school? Do you have friends or relatives who live in a German-speaking country? Perhaps you once worked abroad? If this is of interest to you, do please come along and try out a session or two; you will be made very welcome.

During our meetings we speak German together, listen to podcasts of native speakers and read various texts. We enjoy playing language games to encourage speaking in German, but everyone is free to participate as much or as little as they wish.

This is not a teaching group, but we use the old BBC textbook DeutschPlus, just working through a page or two at most meetings. You can share the book with another member of the group during our sessions, but second-hand copies are available online for a modest price if you want to have your own.

Venue and date/time: We meet on alternate Thursday afternoons for an hour from 2 pm until 3 pm at Eccles Gateway. We take a break from meetings in the summer and over Christmas and Easter. Our upcoming meeting dates for 2024 are:

• 16 May
• 30 May
• No meeting 13 June
• 27 June
• 11 July

There will be a charge of £7 for all these seven sessions to cover the cost of room hire. For those preferring to pay as they go, there will be a charge of £2 per session.
