If you’d like to learn a little more about the wines of the world in an informal setting amongst friends, then come along and join us. We meet monthly for an hour and a half, members having chosen a theme for each meeting beforehand: for example, tasting different samples of a particular grape variety or wines from a particular region.

When and where: The group meets at the Polish Centre (‘Wilno’) in Winton normally on the 4th Tuesday of the month (with the occasional Friday afternoon meeting). Free on-site parking is available.

This year’s meetings are:

  • Tuesday 28th June 14:00-15:30 (Sicilian wines)
  • Friday 29th July 14:15-15:45 (Chardonnays)
  • Tuesday 27th September 14:00-15:30 (Reds and rosés)
  • Tuesday 25th October 14:00-15:30
  • Tuesday 22 November Christmas event – see below
  • December No meeting
  • Tuesday 24th January Details to be confirmed

Our Christmas event

We have arranged a Christmas Cheese and Wine tasting at The Wandering Palate in Monton Road lead by their wine buyer on Tuesday 22 November at 2pm. The cost is £25 payable in advance to the convenor. Places are limited to 22 so non-members of the wine-tasting group may join us if they wish. Please note that the venue is upstairs and there is no lift available.

There is a joining fee of £10, renewable for all members in June of each year. This is necessary to have a kitty to support wine buying. Additionally members pay £6 per session – £3 for room hire and £3 towards the wines we taste.

For practical reasons, the group is limited to sixteen members. If you’d like more information, please contact Estelle.
