Salford u3a offer a programme of trips throughout the year, both day tours and short breaks. We make the most of local events, places of interest and activities, and travel a little further afield on our multi-day holidays within the UK and Europe. Our trips are open to all members and are a great chance to spend time with your u3a friends and indeed meet new ones.

All our trips are carefully planned so that all you have to do is come along and enjoy yourself. We set out with a full itinerary so that you get the most out of your days away – and we try to break longer journeys at places of interest en route. All the practicalities are taken care of – making bookings, organising entrance tickets, choosing a comfortable and high-quality hotel, arranging meals, and hiring guides. We are usually able to keep single supplements to a minimum, and can arrange travel insurance (for short breaks) should you need it.

2025	Royal Perthshire This 6-day trip to Perthshire included visits to the Falkirk wheel, Scone Palace, Royal Yacht Britannia and so much more.
	Jodrell Bank (day trip) A wonderful day out in July at the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Jodrell Bank with a visit also to Fryer’s Garden Centre in Knutsford.
2024	Ulverston (day trip) We visited the Dickensian Festival at Ulverston in November, with a meal at the Newby Bridge Hotel.
	Black Forest, Germany Our 8-day trip included visits to some of the many wonderful towns in the region including Koblenz, Heidleberg, Triberg, Freiberg, Rudesheim and Cologne.
	Shrewsbury and British Ironworks (day trip) A visit to the British Ironworks at Oswestry with its sculpture park and artisan workshops, a short river cruise along the Severn loop and calling in at Shrewsbury Cathedral on the way home.
	Cambridge, Ely and Bletchley Park (3 days) A chance to visit the wonderful cities of Cambridge and Ely, and take a tour of the world-famous Bletchley Park.
2023	Highlights of Somerset (3 days) Tours of Bath, Wells Cathedral, and Bristol, and visits to Glastonbury Tor, Hanbury Hall and Cheddar Gorge
	Bowness (day trip) The Haverthwaite Railway, Lake Windermere cruise and Bowness
	Dutch Delights – the Netherlands (5 days) Keukenhof Gardens, Delft, The Hague, the windmills of Kinderdijk and Castle de Haar in Utrecht
2022	Thursford Christmas Spectacular (3 days) Lincoln Christmas markets, medieval Kings Lynn, the Thursford Christmas spectacular and the National Arboretum
	Monet’s Garden and Versailles (6 days) Monet’s Garden, Versailles, Rouen, Ypres, Arras
