Old: Science & Technology

Convenor: Geoff Anthony

To contact Geoff, please email salfordu3a@gmail.com marking the subject line of your email ‘FAO: Geoff Anthony’.

Venue and date/time: Meetings take place at 2pm on the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Community Rooms, Walkden Gateway. This is a new (and accessible) location for us: there is plenty of parking onsite, or several bus stops nearby.

There is a small charge to cover the cost of room hire and refreshments, payable in advance on a quarterly basis (£8 for three meetings). For visitors and those paying on the day, the charge will be £3.

Nobody can escape reports in the media implying that the world is in crisis, whether it is climate change, overpopulation, waste management or pandemics, and we are looking to science and its close sibling technology to steer us through to a better future. To help us understand what is going on, the Science and Technology group this year will be focusing on some of these issues as well as those of general interest to our members.

Visit to a local solar farm (August 2023)

We have a small group of regular members, but would like to open the meetings to other U3A members who may have more selective interests. Please let me know of any you wish to attend. We also would welcome new members to our group, especially those who are willing to share their interests and expertise.

Come to ask questions and to share your knowledge.  If you wish to go further and raise a discussion, we have a projector and computer at our disposal.
