Our members are keen family historians, each of whom is working on building out their own family tree and collecting the stories that surround it. We meet once a month to help each other research ancestors, overcome brick walls, and explore new resources, tools and approaches. The group is geared more to those who have some experience of working on their family history, and we offer a warm welcome to newcomers.

Some of the many information resources we use

We do not offer any form of taught course but aim to learn from the shared experience and expertise of our members. Our meetings normally address a specific subject and can include presentations, group discussions and, increasingly, interactive sessions where the group works together on a genealogical task.

Venue and time/date: We meet in one of the three Community Rooms at Eccles Gateway on the third Tuesday of the month from 10:30-12:30.

To cover the cost of hiring the room and refreshments, we ask for a payment of £15 to cover the first six sessions of the year. Those attending occasional meetings – new members for example – will be asked to pay £2.50 per meeting.
