We are a group of around 12 who meet weekly, at Walkden Gateway, for conversation in French at an intermediate level – about everyday topics, trips, outings, family etc. – plus reading and translation from a magazine designed for groups like ours, with topics about daily life in France, quizzes and jokes (they can be somewhat strained!). Some of the items are backed up by CDs so we hear authentic French voices.
We’re not a teaching group but we enjoy learning from and with each other. We give ourselves a bit of a challenge to keep our brains ticking over and, if it’s a long time since you practiced your French, you’ll be surprised how much you remember.
Venue and time: The group has in the past met every Wednesday, from 2-4pm at Walkden Gateway but owing to Covid restrictions, we have been meeting fortnightly by Zoom, from 2-4pm on Wednesdays. We are currently (July 2021) taking a summer break in the hope that we can resume our in-person meetings as soon as safe and feasible. Meanwhile, anyone wishing to express an interest in joining our group is more than welcome.
