Bridge is not just a game for the intellectual though it’s certainly good for keeping the old grey matter going! It is played on a square table with two teams of two players in a North-South and East-West formation. The game essentially splits into two phases: bidding and playing. Bidding is what differentiates it from other card games, whilst playing is trick-taking along the lines of Whist.

We are a mixed-ability group with members ranging from those with a good level of experience through to more recent starters. Our style is social rather than competitive; we are not as formal as many non-u3a bridge clubs. If you have no previous experience of playing Bridge, please familiarise yourself with the game via books and/or online websites (ensure you use websites employing the ACOL standard of bidding), before applying to join the group. We will still guide you whilst you get up to speed.

Every Thursday from 2-4 pm

There is a small charge (£1.50 per person) for each session to cover the cost of room hire and refreshments.
