23 MayMary Werneth Low Country Park. 3 miles. An undulating walk with several gradual uphills, mainly in the first mile. Good paths, one field and a golf course. No stiles. Great views. More info
6 JunJoy and HazelDean Wood, Rivington. 3.5 miles. There is a long incline and a set of steps to go up. No stiles. If you are going straight there, meet at Rivington Hall Barn BL6 7SB or we’ll leave as usual from St Mark’s car park at 1pm.
20 JunSylviaGlazebury. A walk of around 3.5 to 4 miles on flat ground, and will probably finish at Bents garden centre for a coffee. We’ll leave as usual from St Mark’s car park at 1pm.
4 JulBrianAdlington (ice cream factory). A 3 mile walk, along the Leeds-Liverpool canal and back to sunny Adlington via Frederick’s ice cream shop. A gentle walk with the previous steep hill climbs removed. Don’t forget, the shop also sells meals so bring your rucksacks.
18 JulNo walk
1 AugMartinDunham area, via extended canal walk, into the park, out through golf course, and back to the Axe and Cleaver pub. Flat, good paths, 2 kissing gates and 2 sets of wide, easy steps into and out of the park. Toilets at beginning, middle and end. 4 miles, an easy but pleasant walk.
Meet at Axe and Cleaver, School Lane, Dunham Massey, WA14 4SE (parking allowed, I checked), or if full there is a parking bay for 15+ cars opposite the church 200 yds from pub.

Blackleach Country Park and Ashton’s Field. Just under 4 miles, good paths, minimal inclines. Start point: Blackleach Car Park off John Street, Walkden M28 3TD
29 AugBrianUpper Rivington Reservoir, 3 miles low level walk, wooded lanes and tracks with few inclines. Parking at Great House barn.
12 SepBrian and BevKersal Wetlands (the old Manchester racecourse). Undulating but easy. We will meet at Radford Street, Higher Broughton M7 4NT, near a small garden centre.
26 SepPat & JohnPennington flash. A walk on the flat starting from WN7 3PA for those going straight there. Otherwise St Mark’s car park, meeting at 12.45pm.
10 OctBrendaBoothstown. For those going straight to the start of the walk, the post code is M28 1YB – Boothstown marina. Otherwise, meet at St Mark’s car park 12.45. Flat walk with some wooded areas.
24 OctKen and PamAn easy 3 mile walk around the Jumbles Reservoir. Post code for those going straight there is BL2 4JS.
Fri 4 NovPlanning meeting10:00-11:00 at Worsley Road United Reform Church, 310-312 Worsley Road, Swinton M27 OEF; free on site parking; bus services 21, 22 and 66 from Eccles. Disabled access and toilets are available. There will be cakes but please bring your own drink. Please note that a financial contribution towards the cost of the venue hire will be asked for: 50p per person.
